A small, quaint boutique waterfront RV Resort, perfectly situated on Perdido Key Island (located between Orange Beach, Alabama and Pensacola, Florida, near Foley and Gulf Shores, Alabama …. only 800 steps away from the world-famous Flora Bama!), Playa del Rio is the only RV Resort on the coast with water at both ends of the RV Park. The back of our resort is directly on the bay with boating access on Old River at our resort marina, and the entrance of our property is located directly across the street from the beach with our own private beach access dune walkover to the Gulf of Mexico.

Pet Friendly

Playa del Rio RV Resort, Beach & Boat Club is very pet-friendly. We love dogs, and we enjoy seeing pets being such a big part of the family with RVers! However, our insurance will not allow breeds such as: Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Dobermans, and other Wolf Breeds. If you have an aggressive dog, you will be fully responsible for any issues that come from your pets, including but no limited to vet and hospitals bills of other pets and/or guests. Additionally, all pets must have all appropriately vaccinations, shots, etc. current and must be using proper flea medications to be on our resort property.

We have three dedicated areas for pets, with a little something special for all dog lovers. Oscar Park is located near the entrance of the resort with a beautiful gulf view just across the street to allow you to sit in the park and enjoy the sounds of waves crashing in while you and your pet relax in the sun together (this is where all pets must go to do their business and check their p-mail)! Sit-a-While Dog Park is a small shaded garden area perfect for sitting with your pet while reading a book or just enjoying a beverage under the shade trees. Sandy Hill Dog Walk is a small area where dogs can walk around trees and bushes that make them feel at home! Additionally, along the road side at the entrance and along Perdido Key Drive is a nice stretch of grassy space for dogs that like to walk and run in larger spaces; and there are several public dog parks in the Orange Beach, Alabama, Gulf Shores, Alabama and Perdido Key, Florida areas where dogs are allowed to be off their leashes. The dog spaces at Playa Del Rio are small, they are not fenced areas, and they are not designed for pets to be off their leash to run freely; but well-behaved pets are allowed off their leash in Oscar Park when no other pets are present. Other local area dog parks are available by calling the Gulf Shores, Alabama, Orange Beach, Alabama and Perdido Key, Florida visitor centers and their local Chamber of Commerce offices.
