Washington Oaks Gardens State Park is located two miles south of Marineland, off A1A.

Hours of Operation
Florida state parks are open from 8 a.m. until sundown 365 days a year.

The Atlantic Ocean and the Matanzas River provide the natural boundaries for the 410 acres of coastal scenery that comprise Washington Oaks Gardens State Park.

Ocean waves have washed away the sand, exposing coquina rock and creating a picturesque boulder-strewn beach. At low tide, many shore birds feed and rest around the peaceful tidal pools. Visitors can enjoy picnicking, fishing and walking through the ornamental gardens and along the river.

Fishing
Fishing from the seawall as well surf fishing is allowed at Washington Oaks.

Nature Trails
Washington Oaks Gardens State Park provides trails for both hiking and biking. The Bella Vista trails, include the Timucuan hiking trail, Jungle Road hike and bike trail and the Old A-1-A hike and bike trail. This 1.7 mile trail system explores a mature coastal maritime hammock and ventures into the edge of a dense canopied coastal scrub.

Picnicking
Washington Oaks Gardens State Park provides a beautiful picnic facility beneath large majestic oaks. There is a covered pavilion with other tables and grills located throughout the picnic area. The picnic areas close proximity to the parks hiking trail and the Matanzas River, makes it a popular meeting place for an after lunch hike.

The pavilion is available for reservation by calling the park office at 904-446-6783.Restroom facilities and a children's play area is also available in the picnic area.


Dagny Johnson Key Largo Hammock Botanical State Park

Key Largo, Florida 33037
The park is home to 84 protected species of plants and animals, including wild cotton, mahogany mistletoe and the American crocodile. Exploring the park´s trails gives visitors a chance to see some of these rare species of plants and animals. Over six miles of nature trails provide a wealth of opportunities for birdwatchers and photographers.   Read more





John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park

Key Largo, Florida 33037
Many enjoy the view of the reef from a glass-bottom boat tour, but visitors can get a closer look by scuba diving or snorkeling. Canoeing and kayaking through the park's waters are popular activities; fishing is permitted in designated areas. Visitors can enjoy walking on short trails, picnicking, or swimming at the beach. Read more






The Barnacle Historic State ParkCoconut Grove, Florida 33133
A walk into the park passes through a tropical hardwood hammock. In the 1920s, it was representative of the original landscape within the city of Miami. Today, it is one of the last remnants of the once vast Miami Hammock. Enjoy sitting in the rocking chairs on the spacious porch used as a gathering place or on a bench under a tree for solitude.   Read more






Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park

Key Biscayne, Florida 33149
Visitors come to the park to sunbathe, swim and picnic on more than one mile of sandy Atlantic beachfront. Biking and kayaking are popular activities. Anglers can throw in their lines from the seawall along Biscayne Bay for some of the best shoreline fishing in the region. Guided tours of the lighthouse and lighthouse keeper´s cottage are given twice daily, Thursdays through Mondays.  Read more
