Madison Blue Spring State Park

Located in one of Florida´s newest state parks, this crystal clear, first magnitude spring is a popular spot for swimming. About 82 feet wide and 25 feet deep, the spring bubbles up into a limestone basin along the west bank of the Withlacoochee River. Scenic woodlands of mixed hardwoods and pines create a picturesque setting for picnicking, paddling, and wildlife viewing. Madison Blue Spring is approximately ten (10) miles east of Madison on the west bank of the Withlacoochee River. From Madison, drive east on State Road 6 to the Withlacoochee River. Turn south on the west side of the bridge at the park sign. The entrance to the spring is 525 feet south of the highway.
Hours of Operation
Florida state parks are open from 8:00 a.m. until sundown, 365 days a year.
Fee Schedule
Admission Fee:
$5.00 per vehicle. Limit 2-8 people per vehicle.
$4.00 Single Occupant Vehicle.
$2.00 Pedestrians, bicyclists, extra passengers, passengers in vehicle with holder of Annual Individual Entrance Pass.
Activities:
A small canoe launch area is provided for access to the River. There are no canoe rentals on site, however area outfitters will provide services to you.
A Florida freshwater fishing license may be required.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome at Madison Blue Springs State Park. They must be kept on a 6-foot leash at all times and can not be left unattended for more than a half-hour.
Dogs are not permitted in buildings or in the springs.
Picnic tables, grills and shelters are available. A volleyball area with net and ball is provided.
FOR EVERYONES SAFETY THE RULES LISTED BELOW MUST BE FOLLOWED:
- Divers must dive within their certification limits
- Display C-card in full view on vehicle dash
- No open water diving
- No solo diving
- No scooters (DPVs)
- Divers must be out of the water one hour before sunset
Public showers are provided.
SWIMMING
Swimming is allowed at the spring area during clear water conditions. Lifeguards are not provided.
WILDLIFE VIEWING
Wildlife viewing is possible at this park.
