The Ochlockonee River offers perfect examples of the scenic natural characteristics found along north Florida's Gulf coast. Visitors have an excellent opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities offered by land as well as by water in this 392-acre park.
Hours of Operation
Florida state parks are open from 8 a.m. until sundown 365 days a year.
Driving Directions
Ochlockonee River State Park is located four miles south of Sopchoppy on U.S. 319.
Park Activities
Fishing
The park is considered an excellent location for
both canoeing and fishing. Both fresh and saltwater
species may be caught, including largemouth bass,
bream, catfish and speckled perch in the fresh waters.
Redfish and speckled trout are common in the brackish
water. A Florida freshwater fishing license is required
for all persons 16 years of age or older. A saltwater
fishing license is required for the taking of saltwater
species.
Full Facility Camping
This 392-acre park has 30 campsites with electric
and water hookups available for reservation through
Reserve America.
Nature Trails
Nature trails are located along the river and throughout the pine forest. During summer months, ranger-guided walks and campfire programs are provided.
Youth Camping
Area Our youth camping area at Ochlockonee River will accommodate groups up to 30 people. It is located on the Dead River. Two port-a-lets and a cold outdoor shower are the only facilities. A fire ring and benches are provided. Reservations may be made in advance for non-profit groups (six or more persons) and it is available for adult groups on a first come first serve basis.
