Anastasia State Park was first opened to the public in 1949 and since that time has become one of Florida's busiest state parks. Located off A1A, and just 1 1/2 miles from historic downtown St. Augustine, Anastasia has everything for the active park visitor. Blue Spring is the winter home (November-March) for an ever-increasing population of the endagered Florida manatee, as well as being a favorite recreation area. Popular activities include swimming, fishing, canoeing, and camping. Today, these waters are popular for canoeing, boating, and fishing. The park protects a variety of wildlife habitats and endangered species, such as the West Indian manatee. Wekiwa Springs offers visitors the opportunity to relax in a natural setting, enjoy a picnic, or take a swim in the cool spring.
