Camp Helen State Park
Camp Helen State Park is a unique geological landform surrounded on three sides by The Gulf of Mexico, Phillips Inlet, and Lake Powell. Camp Helen is a Day use only park, they have no camping or cabin rentals. The diversity provided at Camp Helen State Park is the three different water bodies creates a habitat for wildlife that includes rare shorebirds, and Bald Eagles. The 183.5 acre park contains maritime hammocks, freshwater wetlands, sand pine scrub, coastal dunes, as well as a salt marsh. The lodge at Camp Helen, and its cottages offer a look at how tourist spent their vacations in the 1940’s. Be prepared to hike a bit to enjoy this park’s wonderful trails and beaches. Fishing for both fresh and saltwater species has traditionally been popular at Camp Helen.
Camp Helen State Park has a great beach. They offer kayaking and canoeing in lake Powell. The saltwater fishing is good in Lake Powell you can catch speckled trout and redfish. Please obey Florida fishing laws to help perserve the fun of fishing.
