East Central Florida's Greenways and Trails

Bulow Creek Canoe Trail
This trail begins at Bulow Plantation Ruins State Park. Only the Sugar mill, a spring house and the foundation of the mansion remain of the plantation today.

Cady Way Trail
This urban trail which opened in 1994 is a favorite of Orlando area bikers, joggers, and skaters. It runs from the Fashion Square Mall area in Orlando (southern trailhead) to Cady Way Park in the community of Winter Park (northern trailhead).

Cross Seminole Trail
The Cross Seminole Trail is a paved recreational trail that has been designated as one of Seminole County’s Showcase Trails because of its length, beauty and accommodations for various users.

Econlockhatchee River Canoe Trail

The river is shallow and narrow as it twists through oak-palm hammocks on the upper section, but it broadens about halfway down the trail. High, sandy banks frame this dark-colored river, but there are occasional sandbars that can be used for camping.

General James A Van Fleet Trail State Park
The trail has excellent wildlife viewing opportunities between Green Pond Road and Bay Lake Road.

Hontoon Island State Park Trails

The trails at Hontoon Island State Park are relatively short but make for a pleasant hike or ride. The park is an island in the middle of the St. Johns River, Florida’s longest river.

Lake Minneola Scenic Trail/Clermont Trail
This is a very pleasant, mostly urban trail, with higher hills than any other rail trail in Florida. Though they’re only on the east end, and don't really require very much effort, they can still produce some fast speeds on the downhills.

Ocala National Forest - The Florida Trail
The trail traverses a range of natural communities including extensive stands of longleaf pines, and scattered communities of sand pines, other short leaf pines, and hardwoods. The trail also skirts open prairies and ponds that are excellent for viewing wildlife.

Rinehart Road/Crossings Trail
The Rinehart Road/Crossings Trail is a paved recreational trail in the community of Lake Mary. This local trail has been classified by Seminole County as a Connector Trail in the county’s system of greenways and trails because it will provide a connection between two of the County’s Showcase Trails.

Spruce Creek Canoe Trail
The trail is a 16 mile round trip that threads through a variety of habitats, including dense hardwood forest and coastal saltwater marsh. Look for birds such as great egret, osprey and brown pelican.

Tomoka River Canoe Trail
The river is narrow at the beginning of the trail, but it widens downstream. The trail leads two miles upstream and returns back to the trailhead before continuing downstream to its end in Tomoka State Park.

Wekiva River/Rock Springs Run Canoe Trail
Quiet observers may see some rare and endangered species like the Florida black bear, wood stork and sandhill crane.

West Orange Trail
Among the highlights along the trail are a xeriscape/butterfly garden about a mile east of the Oakland Outpost, the Winter Garden Historical Museum and some picturesque views of Lake Apopka.

Withlacoochee River (South) Canoe Trail
The trail twists and bends through the sandhill area as it moves northwest. Hardwood forests with an understory of cabbage palm and saw palmetto border the river.
