Panhandle East Florida's Greenways and Trails

Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park Trails
This beautiful park, located between urban Tallahassee and suburban Leon County, offers a nice blend of southern charm and recreational activities.

Apalachicola Bluffs and Ravines Preserve - Garden of Eden Trail
Located in the Apalachicola ravines region in Florida, the Apalachicola Bluffs and Ravines Preserve protects one of the few areas where steephead ravines exist.

Apalachicola National Forest — The Florida Trail
Much of this trail is flat, dry pine and palmetto fields with occasional titi swamps. Please be aware that in periods of heavy rain, certain portions of the trail may be ankle to waist-deep in water.

Aucilla River Canoe Trail
High limestone banks frame the trail, and the river flows through cypress-gum swamp. Wildlife you may see includes river otter, hawks and a variety of wading birds.

Elinor Klapp-Phipps Park - The Red Bug Trail

The Munson Hills Off-Road Bicycle Trail offers a scenic and challenging ride through some of the most varied terrain in the Apalachicola National Forest.

Ochlockonee River (Lower) Canoe Trail
The trail flows 65 miles through the Panhandle of Florida. The trail begins just below Lake Talquin, which was formed by the Jackson Bluff Dam.

Ochlockonee River (Upper) Canoe Trail
The river is shallow and often silty. Willow trees line this narrow river. During low water, there will be some portaging and pullovers.

Sopchoppy River Canoe Trail
The trail is a good example of a blackwater stream. High, heavily wooded banks line the river. Wildlife is abundant.

St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge - Mounds Pool Interpretive Trail
St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge is one of the oldest refuges in the National Wildlife Refuge System. It encompasses 68,000 acres spread out between Wakulla, Jefferson, and Taylor counties along the Gulf Coast of northwest Florida.

Tallahassee-St. Marks Trail State Park
As a paved trail, it provides an excellent workout for street bikers, walkers and skaters. It also provides opportunities for horseback riding on the adjacent unpaved trail, and access to the Munson Hills Off Road Trails in the National Forest.

Torreya State Park Trails
Torreya offers visitors an experience that is rarely found in the Sunshine State. This lush park is home to varied natural communities from river swamps to high pinelands.

Wacissa River Canoe Trail
The trail is a clear, spring-fed stream. Wildlife is abundant along this narrow, fairly swift trail. Warblers sing in the trees and wading birds search for food along the river.

Wakulla River Canoe Trail
This short canoe trail takes you on a scenic, relaxing trip down the Wakulla River. It is an easy half-day trip. The clear, spring-fed river is wide, almost straight, and lined with cypress trees. Wildlife is abundant.

Withlacoochee River (North) Canoe Trail
The Withlacoochee River gently curves through Twin Rivers State Forest past hardwood forests, crystal-clear springs, and sandbars along the bends.
